Which magnification should I choose? –26.03.2013

Loupe manufacturers often give out false and misleading information regarding magnification power. Other optical qualities with loupes, such as "field of vision" and "depth of field" go hand in hand with magnification. According to the laws of physics, stronger magnification always means smaller field ov vision and less field depth.

When thinking about the best magnification power for your individual needs, you should always try different powers in action and forget about technical data or standards given by the manufacturer. In case you want to find out the true magnification power of any loupe system, we have prepared a test chart for easy evaluation. Please note that the chart can only be used for measuring Galilean type (short barrel) loupes.
